Ashley Newton is a writer, editor, digital designer, and creative writing workshop facilitator. In 2013 she graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with an Honours Bachelor of Arts in English and History. In 2014 she acquired a Post-Graduate Honours Certificate in Scriptwriting from Algonquin College. She is currently completing a Certificate in Publishing from Ryerson University's G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education.

With over 10 years of writing experience, her work has been published in The Cord Weekly, Blueprint Magazine, The Kingston Free Press, and more. She is the creator and Editor-in-Chief of Free Lit Magazine (, a free digital literary magazine committed to the accessibility of literature for readers and the enrichment of writing for writers. Her first book of poetry, Shadows Among Mist, was self-published in March 2014. She edits various manuscripts for both film and books, and created poetry for the novella, Heart of the Visionary Anarchist, which was released by Kai Kazi in 2016.

Ashley is currently keeping busy with Free Lit Magazine, crocheting, graphic design, and more. She is an Associate Editor with Kingston Publications and also contributes her writing to their seasonal Kingston City Guide.

Ashley currently lives in Kingston, ON, Canada with her partner and their cat, Henry.
